If God were to reveal everything He has predestined for you, you might never choose to walk the path set before you
“For we know in part and we prophesy in part.” — 1 Corinthians 13:9
Sometimes we ask God to show us more, but in His divine wisdom, He often withholds certain details. The Bible says, “We know in part,” because God understands our humanity. If He revealed both the glory and the suffering tied to our calling, many of us would walk away before we ever began.
Look at Jeremiah. God told him, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Imagine if, in the same season God awakened him to his calling, He also showed him all the rejection, persecution, and sorrow he would face. It’s likely Jeremiah would have shrunk back. And indeed, Jeremiah once cried out, “I will not speak again in Your name!” The pain was heavy—but the call was heavier.
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13
God grants access only to what your strength can handle. But many miss certain positions because they never develop the strength required to qualify for them.
Even Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, prayed, “Not My will, but Yours be done.” He was facing His greatest trial. Yet what gave Him the strength to endure the cross was the hope and glory that lay beyond the suffering. The Bible says, “For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross.” God allowed Him to go through that trial because He had the capacity to overcome it.
Do you have the capacity to overcome what you’re going through? Many never walk into their moment because they don’t trust His process—or believe that He’s already prepared them for the season He allowed them to enter.
You could wonder, why does God let us see only partially? Since complete understanding without complete maturity might overwhelm us. Our belief comes with boundaries. In our frailty, we might avoid the exact route that takes us to our fate.
Prophetic seasons refer to divine appointments during which specific events must occur. In my teaching about Prophetic Timelines, I discussed how Moses took action prematurely by ten years. Although God had informed Abraham that deliverance for Israel would come after 400 years of slavery, Moses intervened at the 390-year mark. While his intentions were sound, he lacked maturity. An additional decade of growth might have resulted in a distinctly different leader.
This imparts a profound lesson: being chosen does not equate to being prepared. Though you might be destined to deliver sermons, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right moment for preaching. It is only when readiness coincides with opportunity that grace pours out abundantly.
Election follows formation.
When God reveals a portion to you, He means: "Grow into it."
Become the individual capable of upholding the remaining part of the vision.
Many individuals fail to achieve their true purpose because they do not fully transform. They remain at the stage of initial enthusiasm or insight, yet they cannot withstand the journey necessary to qualify them for what comes next.
So I ask you:
What has God summoned you to become?
Are you becoming it?
Once you reach this point, he will unveil the subsequent part and choose you for it.
