ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO -- The St. Louis County Animal Shelter has had its license application rejected following multiple failed inspections. The facility was cited for various infractions such as insufficient cage dimensions and unhygienic environments.
The shelter has violated regulations by confining dogs to undersized cages, neglecting to remove excrement from exercise areas, and permitting infestations in places where food is stored.
The state requires the shelter to decrease its number of residents prior to passing an inspection.
To comply with the state’s regulations, the St. Louis County Animal Shelter is eliminating adoption fees and broadening its fostering initiative.
The objective of these steps is to lower the count of animals at the shelter so as to comply with the state-mandated reduction goals.
