The National Weather Service issued a statement from the vicinity of the London-Corbin Airport, indicating that they observedEF-3 level destruction in areas close to and west of the airport within portions of Laurel County.

That's when the footage revealed airplanes flipping over and being thrown around by those gusts.

The surveys will extend over multiple days prior to the NWS reaching a definitive decision. Teams will assess all the destruction, including rooftops removed from homes and houses detached from their foundations, which will provide indications of the intensity of the winds in those regions.

At present, it appears as though a single intense tornado swept through the region; however, teams will also search for indications that the tornado might have briefly dissipated and then possibly returned to the ground.

The NWS in Jackson, Kentucky mentioned that it will probably take until mid-week for them to complete their report.
