LAGOS – Recently, at Dansol High School in Ikeja, there was a moment of happiness and acknowledgment when Anita Emokhae and Iteoluwa Ogunyemi were named the recipients of the 2025 Chima Victor Foundation Award for Outstanding Student in Visual Arts. They won this accolade in the senior and junior divisions, respectively.

The announcement took place during the vibrant and motivational Talent Hunt event at the school, where distinguished students received their accolades officially from representatives of the Chima Victor Foundation Prizes in Creative Arts organizers.

For Emokhae, this honor represented a dual achievement since she was also crowned the overall top graduating student in Visual Arts at Dansol High School. Similarly, Ogunyemi had previously received recognition as the finest student in the Visual Arts Junior Category amongst her contemporaries.

The accolades, supported by the Chima Victor Foundation for Emerging Artists, are designed to identify and foster youthful creative potential within Nigerian high schools.

The organization was founded in honor of Mr. Chima Victor Nnaekpe, an accomplished young artist and economics alum from Covenant University, who sadly lost his life in a car crash in 2020.

As stated by the organizers, the foundation holds three significant annual events, such as the Talent Hunt program, with the remaining two planned for July and October.

In addition to the awards, the foundation will also be supporting an art exhibition later this year, featuring works by secondary school students from across the country.

Last year’s award recipients were Umoh Ibikun-Oluwa Daniel (Senior Category) and Sanni Oluwashamilore (Junior Category), who were also recognised for their artistic excellence.

With its growing impact, the Chima Victor Foundation continues to serve as a beacon of hope for young creatives, encouraging them to pursue their passion in the visual arts.
